Requirements

Building a your own house in Singapore is not an easy task. Unlike in Australia, you can just lay bricks to form a wall no concrete slab is even require. In our land scarce city, we have abundance for government bodies to help regulate our land usage. These are the following dept involved :

1) LTA - Land Transport Authority - they are in charge of the road, so they should know when you are building your house. Other than my land, the road in front of my house belong to them.

2) BCA - Building Control Authority - You need to apply to them for permit before you can start developing your house. They control the way you build your house. To make sure it is structurally sound. They also have the land plan for your area

3) URA - Urban Redevelopment Agency - They are first person your Architect will go to when you are building your house. The police for all urban development.

Other agencies involves are :

NEA, town council, Powergrid, SP services, etc

It is a lot of work just to get all the permit done before you can start hacking away. This process will usually take 4-6 months.
